Halloween Table Runner and Place Mats

This was the insperation for the Halloween place mats and table runner Heather and I made. Found on the, so awsome, Pintrest we intended to make it like shown above but we both ended up doing something different.

The placemats I made are made from flannel and black felt. I used a place mat I had as a template, I cut and sewed around the edges with black thread and a zigzag stich.  I cut the edges in little strips and through the mats in the washer and dryer so they would fray.  After drawing my spider web with a pen on the felt I cut it our and glued it with fabric glue to the felt mat. That was it.

While Rose was busy working on her placemats I was on the missoion to find something to make for my table. I did a lot of searching and just wasn't happy with anything I was finding. So after seeing what Rose did, I knew that our table just wouldn't look right with the placemats. So along came this table runner. It was made with orange flannel and I had black fabric paint on hand and just hand drew the spider web and spider. I wanted something so easy and well I found this tutorial and let me tell you I am making this for every holiday now. I love how it looks on our table!
