How to Hem your Jeans and Keep that Professional Hem

I just bought this pair of jeans at Maurices. They were on the 75% off rack, so they only cost me $6.74! I love a good bargain! I got another pair of pants for work, at $8.74 and 4 tops, at $5.49 each. Love it! Well the Jeans were longs and I almost put them back on the rack, until I reminded myself, you sew just hem them. So here is how I did just that!

Take a pair of jeans that you like the length of, and lay them on top of the jeans to be hemmed. (I matched up the crotch of both pants. Since a lot of my jeans are not the same rise.)

Then take a marking pen or chalk and draw a line across.

I then took the hem and folded it up to the line I just made, and pressed it flat with my iron.

Go to your sewing machine and sew as close as possible to that professional hem. You could even use your zipper foot.

Fold it back down and your pants have just been hemmed. You can cut the extra fabric off or just leave it.

Press it again.

Wa La!

Perfect length for heels and wedges!

Even flats!
