Crafty Lassie Tuesday #21

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This past Saturday I had a posh party... you may ask what is posh. It is a new company called Perfectly Posh and its all pampering products! They just started in October 2011. We had a foot soak that I thought was amazing and my feet felt great after. Then after the foot soak we were able to put on a Rubby Scrubby and then a Soothing Stick. It was nice to get pampered and have all this fun smelling good stuff. I ended up buying 4 items and then I got one for free! The bath bombs smell great and I know own them all. Also I am going to start selling it! Go take a look at their product the "handles" are awesome!

Yummy Easy Italian Bread

When I bake these yummy loafs they get devoured so fast. The recipe is so simple and there are not to many ingredients, which is nice because I usually have them in the house. I can whip them up at any time. You can make the dough ahead of time and freeze the uncooked loaf until the day you want to make them. Just remember it takes about 5 hours to thaw and rise before you can bake it.

Here is the recipe:

1 Pag. active dry yeast

2 cups warm water

1 tsp. sugar

2 tsp. salt

2 tsp of dry Basal flakes

2 tsp olive oil

5-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Them add the sugar, salt, Basal, olive oil, and 3 cups flower. Beat on high for few minutes. then turn mixer to low and slowly add the remaining flower. Then once all the flower is mixed turn on to a flowered surface and kneed the dough until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased blow, tun over to grease the top and then cover. Let it rise until the dough has doubled in size. (About 1 hour)

Punch down the dough and turn on a flowered surface; divide the dough in half. Shape the dough into 2 loafs. About the length of a cookie sheet. Then place seam side down on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled in size. (about 30 minutes)

With a knife make a few shallow cuts diagonally across the top of the loaf. Then rub some olive oil over the tops of the loaf.

Bake at 400 degrease for 20-25 minutes of until golden brown.

Fun Little Snapy Bag Tutorial

So these bags are so fun, easy to make, and have so many little uses.

The opening opens up and snaps shut as soon as you let it go. It is so fun to play with with you will fidget with it all day. The best part is they are fast, cheep and easy to make. You will love to make them and give them to your friends.

You need some scrap fabric.

Cut it into one 14"x7" rectangle.

Two 7"x3" rectangles.

Two 4"x4" squares.

Two 6" cut pieces of tape measure (from the dollar store).

First take the 7"x3" rectangle fold in half length wise right sides together. Sew along the seem. Make sure you have enough room to slide you tape measure in the rectangle. This is the casing for the measuring tape. do the same to the other one.

Next take the square, fold it into a triangle.

Fold the triangle in half. It will look like this...

Place the triangle on the short edge of you larger rectangle of fabric.

Place the casing for the measuring tape you just sewed on top of the triangle lining up the raw edges.

Pin and sews edges together. (you can add the measuring tape before you sew, get as close to the tape as you can with ought hitting it with your needle. Or you can sew the pieces together with ought the tape, just remember to sew on the inside of the seem you already placed on the casing for the measuring tape.

Do the same proses to the other end of the bag.

Now you have to add the measuring tape. When you do the the curved side, or convex side, of the tape measure needs to be facing the outside of the bag and the concave side will be facing the inside of the bag.

Fold the bag in half right sides together and pin the seems. Be sure to pin the tape measure in place so you have enough seam allowance on either side.

Sew the seam and add a zig-zag stitch to secure it. Trim off the extra seam allowance.

Turn the bag right side out. Now you have a cute, fun, little, bag. Hope you enjoy it.

Hand Made Clothes (What I made for Christmas)

Happy New Year! We are back.

I hope you all had a great Holiday. Heather and I sure did.

I was planing on doing this post before Christmas but life got to busy. So here it is, a bit late.

I made my kids Christmas outfits this year. It only cost me 19 dollars for all the fabric including the thread for all three kiddos. Not bad, is what I say. Plus I had fun making them. For the girls dresses I make my one pattern. For Roberts vest, which is reversible, I used this tutorial, and for the cape I used this tutorial.

Merry Christmas everyone! Because of how busy we are for the Holidays Crafty Lassie Tuesday will be a bit different this time. To link up to our party you can just scroll down and link up to our Christmas party. Or you can click on the link here.

There are no rules!  Link up what you want and how ever much you want, any post old or new.  This is our celebration bash!  The Bash will last threw to the end of December. 

Since we have family coming to visit us form Michigan we will be taking a break form the blog until the new year.  We are excited about the things we have planed so stay tuned.

But just one thing! Remember these stars? Well we made some for Christmas and decorated with them around the house... Enjoy this tutorial, Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Supplies Needed:

Paper (any type) Red, White, Blue
Scissors
Hot glue
Hot glue gun
Ribbon

Take your first piece of paper, I used scrapbook paper 12 x 12.

Fold it in half.

Fold it in half again.

Now cut out the four squares you just made, by folding the paper.

You will need 6 squares. 

Fold your square to make a triangle.

Cut starting where you made the fold up one side. Make sure you don't cut all the way up. Then go to the other side and make another cut.

Repeat 2 more cuts on both sides.

This is what you should have.

Unfold the triangle. 

Starting from the middle, glue your points together.

Then flip it over and glue the next two points together.

Then you will flip it again and glue those two points. Flip it once more and glue those two points together. it should look like this when you are done.

Once you have all 6 squares glued we will start building the star.

Take the ends and glue three ends together.

Three ends glued together, repeat this with the other three pieces.

Now you will glue both of the three sides you just glued together. Take the points and glue them together.

Now you will go around in a circle and glue the start together. That way it all stays put, you will do this by gluing all the squares together with the outside pieces.

Take some string, ribbon, tulle, what ever you want and put it through at a point...

.... and hang it up!

You can make these for any holiday! I made a bunch of these at Christmas time and hung them in our front room window. They look great as a snowflake! But we also like them as a star.

Christmas Angel Ornament Tutorial

I hope you like this tutorial. It is easy and fun. I think the angels are just beautiful and would make a nice babies first Christmas ornament.

You need:

Yarn,

Scissors;

Cardboard 6x4 inches or larger if you want a bigger angel,

Christmas ribbon.

1: start to wrap the yarn around the cardboard. (don't wrap to tight or it will be hard to tie off the yarn)

2: wrap the yarn about 20 times, give or take a few depending on the thickness of the yarn you are using

3: take a piece of yarn about 6 inches long and slide under all the yarn one one side of the cardboard, pull it to the top and tie it tight. This will be the top of the head.

5: cut the bottom of the yarn

6: this is what it will look like after you cut the bottom of the yarn

7: tie a piece of yarn round the tassel about one inch down from the top. This is the head

8: start on the wings, wrap the yarn around the shorter side of the cardboard

9: once you are done slide the yarn off the cardboard and cut another piece of yarn to tie around the middle of the wings

10: set the wings aside for now

11: Part the body of the angel in half

12: grab the wings

13: place them in between the two pieces and slide the wings close to the head

14: tie the ribbon around the angel under the wings

The last step is to heng the angle on your tree.

DIY Christmas Tree, Tomato Cage

It's another Pinterest idea I found, Geez Pinterest why are you so addicting? I find myself on there watching what others are pinning. It's pure craziness!

Here is my tomato cage Christmas Tree.

My lovely tree! Thanks Rose for letting me use your camera.... I could have gone nuts with taking the pictures. That is one fun gadget that I need to have one day. (can you see some of our headbands on the left side... :) most of them will be in our etsy store at the first of the new year)

Here is the Tutorial...

Supplies:

Tomato Cage (Home Depot actually had some left!)

5 to 6 Pine Garland strands (mine were from the dollar store)

Lights

Ornaments & Garland

or anything you want on your tree

Take the tomato cage and turn it upside down.

(Little Colten in the background. His mom, Kayla, has a blog, CHECK IT OUT!)

Take your garland and twist it around the bottom.

Then you will just continue to go around the whole cage. Each time I came to the wire that's in a circle I did the wrap around. (if that doesn't make sense let me know :))

What I did was each time I came to the wire going up I would do a loop around the bar.

Here is what it looks like as I was going around and up. I did not pack it tight, it's actually pretty loose.

As I get to the top I took a little piece of garland and hot glue and brought the three wires to the middle for to form the top of the tree.

Here is a closer picture for you.

All done!

(Maizy can't seem to stay out of the way whenever I am making something.)

Now just start decorating it how you'd like it.

I put lights on mine, then the garland beads. I secured the beads with little pieces of pine garland. The holly was just stuck into the tree and the holly beads were bent around the garland or the strand of lights. Have fun with it! I was originally going to put this outside by our front door. But its very tight and wouldn't work.

So I ended putting it on our landing.

Here is how the stair railing is decorated.

I just love the tree. I would love to make more and just put them outside on either side of the garage.

Georgia kept climbing the stairs... So Rose put her here, it's her time out chair now.

The HaHa mommy come and get me face!

There she goes, love little Georgia, never a dull moment with her around. But, you can see my peppermint garland I made. So simple too! Just hot glued a bunch of peppermints together. I actually made it all last year and it survived through the summer months in the garage. The snowflakes were from the dollar store, last year. Then I made little stockings last year too.

Here is a close up.. So simple too! Just find a small stocking pattern or if you can draw one. (all done with fabric) Glue two together, I left the top of mine open, that way I could put things in them if I wanted to. I then just hot glued vintage rhinestones to them. I have 5 of these and love the little sparkle on them.

Kids Craft, DIY Christmas Gift Bows

Once I found out that you can make your own gift bows I knew it was something to try. I really enjoy making things with my kids and these are easy and simple. Christmas Crafts are so fun and full of cheer. Plus it gives you something to do as a family.

Lets get started.

First you'll need to cut out strips of paper any type will do. We used wrapping paper.

cut all the strips in the same shape and size. To make a bow that is about 4 inches across you will need your strips of paper to be 12 inches long and 1 inch wide.

for one bow you need around 6 strips. But it is up to you on how many you want to add to your bow.

Once your strips are cut glue them in a figure 8 shape. Like shown below.

We used Elmer's glue but you can use any kind you like.

Lay one of you figure 8 papers down and glue anether on top in to make a cross.

Continue to add the paper strips on top of one another in a staggered pattern.

One your bow looks full you are dun just let it dry in a safe place. The kids will love adding their bows to the gifts they wrap.

Home Made Peanut Brittle Gone Wrong

Over the Weekend I thought it would be fun to make some Christmas treats with the kids. So I looked through my recipe book and decided to make Peanut Brittle. It looked easy. I wish I knew what stress was waiting for me before I started. The recipe is from Karo Syrup and I have added the link for Microwave Peanut Brittle if any one wants to try it. Perhaps you'll have better luck.

So the first thing that went wrong was... I read the recipe wrong. The first batch was trashed, and my poor kids were so disappointed. The second batch was overcooked, except it would not have mattered because I ruined it by my self. I placed wax paper over it to try and spread the peanut brittle thinner. Who knew the paper would stick and not come off. Hugh!!!!! Then the third batch came out perfect! I thought to my self "I finally got the knack". Why not try one more batch? (NO. somebody should have stopped me). I burnt the heck out the last batch. The syrup looked like it was not cooking no mater how long I cooked it. I was so wrong. I don't usually have so much trouble while cooking but this was so frustrating that I have to laugh at myself.

It takes so much concentration to pour and measure.

Tree Topper Bow

I love Christmas! All the things you can do and you never seem to be able to go overboard.

This year we have two trees in the house. Thanks to Andrew's parents, when Joe and Rose moved here they brought us a tree from Tim and Linda that they have kept for us so one day we could have it. Its a nice 7feet tall, fat, tree, and it has the big outdoor lights on it. Its not easy putting these lights on. I have scratches on my arms and there are 4 extension cords on the tree. I wanted to do this tree for Andrew so he could have the memories of being home with his mom and dad. So this tree has become Andrew's. Which is fine since I have my tree too.

Mine is a penguin fashion tree. All the ornaments on this tree are ones that my parents have given me through out the years, and everyone who has ever given me a penguin ornament. My mom even gave me a really nice set for entertaining that is silver and white penguins. (there is penguins all over our house at Christmas) I LOVE PENGUINS! There is just something about them that amaze me in many ways.

Rose and I laughed about this the other night, but as you can see it really GLOWS.... We call it the National Lampoon Tree. Chevy Chase I have the glow in our house. :)

Here is my bow, I thought I was getting carried away making it. But it actually fits the tree great, I just kept making loop after loop. The tails were added on after I made the bow. All twisted together.

I love our tree in the front room. if only I could keep the dogs from going behind it. They love to sit at the windows and watch outside. We don't have ornaments yet to fill the tree, but as the years go by I know this one will be covered!

Pine Cone Decor

I don't about you all but I love walking into a store at Christmas time and smelling the cinnamon pine cones. I bought some last year and bought more again this year. When I was pulling all the Christmas decor out... I could smell the pine cones! It was great! I have many now and I wanted a way to display them instead of having them in a bowl or on the Christmas Trees.
This is what I did....

Its so simple too. All I did was cut the green ribbon at different lengths and hot glued one end of the ribbon onto the pine cone. Then I made all red bows for each one. They were also hot glued on. I then lined them all up and tied a knot at the top and a red bow and hung it with a pipe cleaner onto our fan.

I have seen pictures of these hanging on doors as a wreath.

The one thing I love about pine cones is that you can have them out during fall through winter. So if you wanted to keep yours up during that time, I'd pick colors that match your house.

Home Made Granola Christmas Gift

I just think mason jars are so cute and a vary nice way to package a gift. Not to mention affordable ,much cheaper then the tins or boxes you can buy this time of year. I have made some granola for my family and these jars are how I am giving it. I added a ornament to spruce it up and voila, nice gift. Food is a great thing to give, I find people are touched when you take the time to make them something. Here is the granola recipe I used. It is vary good you'll like it.

Mesh Fabric Christmas Wreath

This is my Christmas wreath this year. I am happy with how it turned out. In July I found this mesh fabric and just fell in love with all the possibilities. I have added the tutorial I first did on how to make one of these wreaths below.

What you need is...

1: Role of metallic mesh fabric. 21 in. X 10 yds.

1: Role Mesh Ribbon

1: Box of 100 white lights

1: package of 50 or more Fern Pins (Floral Pins)

1: 14 in. wide white foam wreath.

Take the raw edge of the Fabric fold the edge under and bunch it up in you hand and wrap it around the outside of the foam wreath. Push the pins into the fabric and foam holding the fabric to the wreath.

Now take about 16 inches or more (use your judgement on how much fabric to use) of the fabric and push it up to the pined edge to make a loop. Gather the fabric at the end of the loop and pin it to the wreath. Leave the open ends of loop because you will feed the lights threw them.

Continue making loops with the fabric and pinning. Place each loop of fabric as close to the other as you can so the wreath will look full.

The next step is to put the lights in the wreath. You will start threading the lights at the back of your wreath. Take and stretch the lights out so they are not too stiff. Start at one end and make a loop with the lights and push the loop of lights threw one of the fabric loops. (you can see how I did it below.)

Take a pin, grab some fabric along with the lights cord and push it into the foam wreath. Use a as many pins as you feel you need to secure the lights. (I did not feel like I need too many) You will have the rest of the lights hang out the back of the wreath, take an make another loop with the lights and push them threw the next loop of fabric continue until you are done. Now if you need to pin any fabric to shape the wreath go ahead and do that.

I made a Bow and pined it to the wreath And that was it.

Done, But if you like you can add any decorations to the wreath you like. Make a holiday theme. Have fun with your creative juices.

How I Decorate The Christmas Tree

Christmas is my favorite time of year. I just love the beauty of it, It is such a magical time. I just can't help myself I put my tree up the week before Thanksgiving. I am sure there are a few of you like me. This blog post is about why I decorate my tree the way I do. As a kid I just loved decorating the tree. I waited with anticipation for the day after Thanksgiving, the day we put up our tree. The ornaments we used were all hand made by my sister and I. We had so much fun finding the right branch to proudly display our ornaments. The tree never looked like it belonged on display in a department store but we thought it was beautiful. I had a friend who's mom would never let her touch there tree. "How sad" I thought to myself.

But as an adult with a passion for creating things and decorating I wanted my tree to look like it belonged in a department store. I read all kinds of articles on decorating trees, I would plan how I wanted my tree to look weeks before Christmas. When my kids would bring home a hand made ornament I would be so pleased, and then hang it on the back of the tree. (Bad Mom) I know!

But as I thought about this need to have the perfect tree I felt selfish. Christmas is so much more for the kids then me. Besides, the time in a child's life when Christmas is the most magical is so short. I know that they will grow up to soon, and then I will have plenty of time to make my tree the envy of my friends. My children will remember decorating the tree with me for the rest of their life, and I will become sentimental every time I pull out the ornament they made when they were in preschool.

So my hand made ornament tree is displayed proudly with the paper stare my 8 year old made for the tree topper.

Evelyn felt she need to ware something more festive for the tree decorating so she changed.

Windows and Wreaths

As we all know Pinterest is very ADDICTING!

As Christmas is getting here, I have been wanting to make the house look amazing and I have loved all the wreaths hanging on windows. In our family room we have three windows and they always look very blah blah blah to me. So when I saw all these wreaths on windows I wanted to try it out for myself.

Our friend Kayla, who also has a blog, sent me a picture of a wreath one day, that she made, and I just fell in love with it. I was just amazed at how pretty it looked. A couple days went by, I saw it hanging in her house and thought this would look great on our windows and just add that something they needed. Then I saw her do a tutorial of it on her blog, I was even more excited! Check out Kayla's Creations. Here is the link to her tutorial...

Kayla's Wreath

You will be amazed how cheap and easy this can be for you. I made my three in one night sitting in front of the TV watching a movie. I made the bows to go on mine, the ribbon, pine and gold tinsel garland, and small gold ornaments are from the dollar store. Then I got the bigger ornaments and red ribbon from Walmart, they came in an 8 pack for 97 cents. Great Price! All in All each wreath cost me about $5. Not Bad :)

As you can see at the top of my windows on the valences I added some garland too. I am telling you I can't stand how blah these windows always are. It may be hard for me not to have something hanging on the windows. Also under the garland on the valence I have tulle pinned up there to give it a small scarf look at the top. It sure helps. But I just lopped the pine garland up there, added some gold tinsel garland and the wrapped silver ball garland around the pine and gold tinsel garland. Then I had some white poinsettias left from last year and didn't really have spot for them so I just added them to the top. Its amazing what little things can do for you, especially with items from the dollar store!

(sorry about the bags in the bottom right corner... I did a little more shopping for Christmas decor)

I have more to show everyone but we will start here and continue soon with everything else in my house. I am having a lot of fun decorating this year. I just might be decorating up to the day of Christmas!

First Thanksgiving

There are many moments in my young adult life that serve to remind me
I am a "Grown Up". Even after having 3 kids, being married for 8 years
and moving all the way across the country, away from my family, I stillam coming across those life experiences that only bring me closer tomaturity, this year it was Thanksgiving. I normally love
Thanksgiving because the cooking was left to the parents and grand
parents, the people with the experience and the know how. I
loved showing up to Grandma's house and smelling all the food and all I had to do was to relax and enjoy, but not this year!!! Heather and I had to figure out the Holiday all by ourselves. We split up the cooking responsibilities between us and the guests who were coming. I had the turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, gravy, salad, and Heather had Ham, cheesy potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn and the responsibility of hosting the party. So about 2 weeks before I bought my turkey I did a lot of research on how to cook turkeys. I settled on a recipe, I was scared. All our friends who were coming to Thanksgiving dinner were also away from their homes and families. I did not want to be the one who brought the bad turkey to dinner, that would make everyone more homesick on this holiday. So after much fretting and a interesting day of baking, a call to Mom, my Mother-in-Law, and my Gramma for advice, recipes, and just to be calmed down, dinner was finally done. Here is the results, the turkey was so good, moist and full of flavor (thanks Food Network).

Heather's ham was the best ham I ever had! And I don't like ham all that much.

Printable Gift For Dad

Now that Thanksgiving is over it is time to think about Christmas and gifts. I am starting with Dad today.

I don't know why but sometimes Dads can be hard to buy for. Especially if you are like me and are doing a hand made Christmas. (Which is a good option if you are trying to save money at Christmas time.) It has been my experience that men are not easy to please when it comes to homemade gifts. I don't know if they understand the sentimental value of a hand made gift. Yet, I try any way. (When it comes to my Dad, he has kept and treasured a "Worlds Best Papa" coffee mug I gave him for Christmas as little girl.) This has inspired me to make some simple but sweet printables for Dad, and so I share them with you. You can frame them, which is what I did, or you could Mod Podge the picture to a canvas. There is a great tutorial on how to do that right...

Our First Craft Fair!!! Done

Well it is over... our first craft fair. That is me, Rose on the left and Heather on the right. And first I must say we had fun. This was a small event in a small town in Utah. Since we had never done a fair before and we thought is would be nice to get our feet wet with a Small town show. With this being our first one in this area we did not know what to expect. But it was a blast, I have to say we will be doing this again.

I must be honest I was stressed out the week leading up to the show. Heather and I crafted our selves to death and still felt we did not have enough things to sell. I was feeling burnt out and the show had not even started. But once the day arrived we were pumped. I could not sleep all night in anticipation. I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve.

The Headbands were a huge hit!! We had to restrain our selves from doing the "Happy Dance" every time we made a sale. *Everyone loved the idea that Rose thought of with the headbands. We handed out a lot of business cards, So hopefully our Etsy sales will pick up too.* I laid awake again after it was over thinking about better ways to display our headbands for the next show. I (Heather) did the same thing!

So, just hang on to you hats because we are on a role. We can officially say that we are bitten with the Craft Fair bug!

Burlap Wreath & Banner For Fall

I have been absent from the blog for awhile now, my mind hasn't been on the blog at all. I have been cleaning the house, doing laundry, working full time (now) going through all our clothes, decorating the house for Thanksgiving, planning Christmas gifts, and working hard for our FIRST Craft Fair, we both have! Yes we are so excited, kind of scared but just can't wait till November 19th is here. Well in all this I have made a banner for my mantel. But first I would like to show you the wreath I have made. Its a burlap wreath but in a diamond / square shape. I got the idea for the wreath from Just Sew Sassy, here is the link to her Rolled Burlap and Rosette Wreath.

I did make felt flowers to go all around it, But I am happy with how it looks on our door. Maybe next year I will add more. Then I made the bow with glitter ribbon. Let me tell you, I love glitter, but when I dropped the ribbon on the floor. I have never seen so much glitter fall off a little spool! It was crazy. There is glitter all through the house right now. It is unstoppable.... When Rose came over the other day and we were working on our headbands. We had glitter everywhere. Now that Christmas is on its way there is bound to be even more.

For my banner, I took 12x12 brown scrap book paper and cut it into to four pieces and then took 12x12 leaf scarp book paper and cut four circles out of each piece. Then I found polka dot letters on the internet and print them off and colored them with crayons. I then glued each layer together and hole punched two holes in each letter and strung brown yarn through. I wanted to add more to the banner but I am not sure what I want to do. So next year when I hang it up again, I will make the choice, By the way this is one of my favorite sayings. ~Harvest Blessing~

Now for the one little bloom on my Christmas Cactus to open. It has been growing for the past week and I am so anxious to see it! If you want a flower around Thanksgiving and Christmas, I say go for this one. This one is so pretty and unique to me. I am thinking about getting a couple more to have. They are easy to keep too, I am the worst when it comes to a house plant.

Thanksgiving, Fall Hair Clips

Heather and I have been working hard making all kinds of hair accessories for a craft show. And I was thinking why not blog about these fun fall hair clips. Perfect of Thanksgiving. These can even be a dollar store craft if you have the clips and hot glue on hand.

What you need are some fall colored gemstones, some fall silk leaves (you can find these anywhere even the dollar store) and then you need some hair clips. I used large 3 inch clips but you can use any size you would like.

Don't forget your handy dandy hot glue gun. (Heather and I never go to each others house without taking a hot glue gun. VERY TRUE!)

Felt, any color.

Cut 2 pieces of felt, 1 rectangle a little larger then your clip and one small, about a 1/4 the size of the bigger one.

Take the large piece and place it inside the clip. Then glue it in place.

Take the smaller piece of felt and place it on the under side of the wide end of the clip. Then glue it in place.

Trim the excess felt off leaving a small edge.

Chose your leaves and arrange them by hand on the clip first to see how you would like them to lay.

Glue them on one by one starting at the narrow end of the clip. I glued this first leaf about half way down the clip so the base of the leaf was in the middle of the clip.

Chose your gem stone and glue it to the end of the clip.

That is all you have to do. You will have a cute hair piece for Thanksgiving.

Roast Beef Stew, in the Crock Pot, so Easy and Good

This is one of my favorite meals. All you need is a few ingredients
and a crock pot. If it is a crock pot recipe then it must be easy,
right?

You need:One can of french onion soup

One can of tomato sup

3 to 4 pounds bottom round roast

Some baby carrots, as many as you like or as many as you can fit in
the pot, that is how I do it.

Same for the potatoes

A few tablespoons of Lee and Perrins Worcestershire sauce,

salt and pepper

I like to add onion powder, about one tablespoonLastly, about 1/2 cup of water

Chop up the meet into cubes, cut the potatoes then put it all in the the pot. Let it cook on low for about 7 hours. That is it, YUMMY!!

Home Made Granola

When I (Rose) was a kid my mom would make granola and I loved it! Granola not only makes a good breakfast but a good snack to take and munch. When I first got married I asked my mom for her recipe and she said what she always says when I ask for a recipe, "I don't use a recipe just throw what looks right together and taste it." None the less she came up with some measurements and wrote them down for me. You can have fun with this recipe and add whatever you like in granola.

In a large bole combine:

3 cups of Whole Oats ( quick or old fashion)

1/4 cup coconut

1/4 cup wheat germ (optional)

1/4 cup chopped nuts

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp salt

Add:

1/2 cup oil

1/2 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

mix together all the ingredients

spread on a greased cookie sheet or pan,

bake in oven at 325, for 15 minuets then stir and bake again for a nether 15 minuets.

Granola will be golden brown and crunchy

For those of you who have been following our blog you know that Heather and I make and sell all types of things in out Etsy store. But there is one item that is different, That is our headbands. What is different about a headband you may ask? Well it is different because the design of the band is an invention of mine. You can check out what is different about it here. We recently came up with a new feature on the headbands and we need some Guinea pigs. It is our desire to get the word out about this new type of headband. Zebra Romper Tutorial, Do Zebras eat pizza?

I will start by telling you why Georgia has pizza. I grabbed a
slice from the fridge right before going outside to take pictures.

Georgia saw the yummy slice in my hand and pointed to it with
enthusiasm so as I offered her a bite. She took the whole slice and when I tried to take it back, she would not lett go of the pizza. So that is how I discovered zebras do indeed eat pizza.

For this romper I just took one of her rompers from her wardrobe and
used it as a pattern. Before you cut, find out which way the fleece

stretches. The fabric will have a stretch to it when pulled one way and
none when pulled the other way. You want the outfit to stretch across
the body of the suit. ( width wide, not length wide)

Take and fold your romper in half tucking the arms in.

Fold you Fleece, lay the romper over the fabric folded edges together.

Trace and cut out 2 halfs. leaving 1/2 inch seam allowance..

Next you need to cut a rectangle 3 inches longer and 2 1/2 inches

wider then the inseam for the pant legs.

Lay your sleeves the same way you did the body of the romper on

the fabric, trace and cut.

Start with the inseam on the legs. pin the rectangle, right sides

together, to the pant leg lining up the center and sew along the

inside seam.

Once you have sewn the seam you will turn the rectangle to the inside

of the romper.

Like shone.

The front half of the romper inseam is sewn different then the back. I show you how to sew the front first. ( you will see)

Trim the edges of the rectangle pin and sew around the outside edge.

That is it for the front.

For the back half, you start the same way you did for the front. But

when you turn the rectangle in you don't turn it all the way. Like the
pictures shown below, Just fold the fabric up to the seam not
overlapping it.

Pin it here. Sewing the around crotch is a bit tricky, but not to hard.

When you are done it will look like this.

Now sew your two body halves right side together along the top shoulder and the sides.

The next step is the sleeves. Sew along the bottom seam right sides

together then turn them right side out.

Place them inside the sleeve opening of the romper. The romper is

still inside out. So the sleeves are lined up seam to seam with the

romper and right sides together.

Sew along this edge repeating on the other sleeve.

For the neck I first made sure it went over Georgia's head. Then

folded the fabric down twice to finish the edge, pin and sew.

(Note... there may be a better way like sewing some jersey fabric

over the opening for a finished edge, When I sew I go for easy and

quick. Nobody ever said to me my cloths were sewn wrong. So,

sew any way that works for you.

If you are using a romper with snaps then look at it to use as a guide for placing the snaps.

Zebra Hat Tutorial

My baby girl, Georgia is a Zebra for Halloween this year and I

have made her outfit, here is how I did the hat.

If you want to see how I made the outfit you can check out the tutorial here

First I took one of Georgia's hats and used it as a pattern.

Lay it out on you fabric. Make sure the fabric stretches width wise.

This way the hat will stretch over you child's head. Trace and cut out

two halves.

Cut out 2 more pieces that will cover the bottom half of the hat.

Measure and cut 2 strips of fabric for the mane. These will go along

the back of the hat so don't make them too long.

Ears: I just free handed a couple. You don't have to be exact.

Lay out the ear flap over the bottom of the hat, right sides to

gether, lining up the edges.

Pin and sew only along the bottom of the hat. Don't sew up the side!

Turn right side out and top stich the two sides together.

Do this to the other half of the hat.

Place one side of the hat right side up. Take the mane pieces also

right sides together and lay them down on the hat. The long part of

the mane going inside the hat.

Place the other side of the hat on top. Pin the edges together and

sew. This is a lot layers so go slow.

Once sewn trim off excess seam allowance. Then turn right side out.

For the ears with a zig zag stitch sew some pink felt, or other fabric

to the inside of the ears.

Now gather the bottom of the ear and hand sew together.

Place one hand inside the hat and position the ear were you want it

and hand sew the ear to the hat.

Your dun.

Have fun.

Vintage Paper Leaf Wreath

I liked it so much that I did sot sleep at all that night because I could not stop thinking about it. In the morning I woke up, called Heather, and told her all about the wreath. Wouldn't you know it... she already had seen the wreath on her own and was planning to make one for her self. This wreath got under my skin and I wasted no time making it. It was a bit tedious, but worth it.

This Blog is our hobby and not our life. Yes I sometimes suffer from blog envy. I dream of the day we have a 1,000 followers, a beautifully designed blog, with lots of gorgeous photography. I wish we had the time to sew all day and take pictures and tell you all about it. But I must be honest I am a Real, not Desperate, House Wife. I'm busy loving my full time job as chief "butt wiper", tear dryer, cook, house cleaner, laundry washer, dog trainer, and wife to mention a few. Welcome to our 8th PARTY!

It has been a crazy weekend, Heather are in AZ because Andrew is competing in the Tuscon Aerobatic Shootout. GOOD LUCK ANDREW!

While they are there I am watching their dogs, Jewel and Maizy, which means there are 5 dogs in my house. So with 5 dogs and three kids I am loosing my mind... And speaking of Maizy I never knew this but Maizy knows how to jump kitchen islands! Which she did, and landed in a huge bowl of water, spilling it all over. And of course we had a visitor in the house at the time. So don't envy me, I wont be doing much Blogging or other hobbies this week. It is all good. These things are good for memories. Not to mention building character.

Now for the features this week, we may have gone crazy but we had a hard time deciding.

Cheesy Sausage Balls

Andrew loves having these around. They are good snack when you are hungry. Or what I'll do is make them as an appetizer, for when we go to parties and cookouts.

They are so simple to make. If you like getting your hands in the mixing, you should try these out.

Temp: 385 degrees

Cook Time: 12 - 15 minutes

Ingredients:

2lbs of Hot Italian Sausage

3 1/2 cups of Sharp Shredded Chedder Cheese

1 1/2 cups of Pancake Mix
1/8 cup of Milk (optional)

Put the sausage and pancake mix together in a bowl and smoosh and mix with your hands. Then add the cheese and smoosh and mix with your hands. (and the milk if you are using)

Now start making small balls with your hands. I will make about 30 balls and put them in the oven and finish making the rest of the balls. That way you don't have to get your hands all messy every time.

Fresh out of the oven, let them cool a little while and then put them in a container.

Then you are done. SO SIMPLE!
